Left Bank

The Left Bank is the vast section of land in Bordeaux that lies on the West bank of the Gironde Peninsula. Primarily planted in Cabernet Sauvingon and Merlot, intermixed with small plots of Cabernet Franc and early-ripening Petite Verdot flourishes throughout the region. This area includes the famous communes of St. Estephe, Pauillac, St. Julien, Margaux, Graves/Pessac Leognan and Sauterne/Barsac.  Red wines from this region often display cassis flavors, and take on tobacco and truffle tones after aging.
